Anxiety and Stress

ANXIETY AND STRESS

EXTREMELY FREQUENT MENTAL DISORDERS BOTH IN ADULTS AND CHILDREN THAT VARY IN INTENSITY AND HOW THEY ARE MANIFESTED, MAKING THE DAILY LIVES OF PEOPLE WHO SUFFER THEM DIFFICULT.

-------------------------------------------------

The terms anxiety and stress are well-known by both children and adults in modern-day society. The permanent demands of immediacy and efficacy make many people develop these symptoms. They may face difficulties in handling day-to-day requirements, leading to problems in school and work life, their relationships with partners and family, and so forth.

The manifestations of stress and anxiety are varied: from changes in our bodies (skin problems, hypertension, arrhythmias, digestive problems) to irritability, feelings of defencelessness, collapse and memory loss. Some frequent signs among children are: stomach ache, headache, refusal to go to school, exam anxiety or fears (for example, fear of flying or night fears).

The degree to which people are affected may range from isolated symptoms to affecting every aspect of their lives. This is why treatment must be adapted to the characteristics and age of each patient.

Neuro-biofeedback is yoga for the mind and body, specifically for a person suffering from anxiety, as the brain is gently trained to function from a calm

space. With Neuro-biofeedback treatment, we help reduce the negative effects of stress and convert them into positive mental and physical states.

Using Neuro-biofeedback we work on key issues of anxiety and stress, so that patients develop greater self-awareness of the body-mind connection. We work with relaxation exercises, viewing internal states on the computer screen, exposure to stressful situation in a controlled environment and guided visualisations. This is all done in order to develop stress management and emotional self-regulation strategies.

If necessary and, as agreed with patients, we offer psychological treatment in combination with Neuro-biofeedback training.
